These poems are cut-up, assembled as poetic collage from Philip Larkin’s All What Jazz: A Record Diary, Larkin’s jazz criticism, written for The Daily Telegraph between 1961 and 1971.

”Even when he was writing prose in his role as jazz critic, Philip Larkin was unable to stop himself being poetic. Peter J. King has produced a remix, a recomposition, of the poet’s words, yet never losing sight of his personal enthusiasms, his dislike of musical modernism, and his nostalgia for times past. These are a set of pithy observational pieces that shed new and different shards of light on their subject.” – ALYN SHIPTON
